A Couple of Great Songs and a Few Weird Ones submitted by Meginator on August 27, 2022, 5:54pm This album has a straightforward singer-songwriter feel to it and is somewhat breezy although a few of the tracks take on heavy subject matter. Some of the songs are, predictably, a bit avant-garde in their lyrics (but not really in their instrumental aspects), but “Working Class Hero” nearly makes up for those all by itself. Straddling the line between pop and rock, the music is generally pleasant to listen to even if Lennon is a bit avant-garde at times (though boringly so, in my opinion). Ultimately, though, he has the songwriting chops to pull it off, and this is a solid album with one standout track and only a couple (both in the back half) that are worth skipping.
