awesome! submitted by manz on July 5, 2014, 10:09am Such a cute story. Great for preschoolers. It's funny and has a sweet ending.

Those mice! Always in fear of being eaten in picture books! :(

Nice story! submitted by Baradlay on July 16, 2014, 9:03pm Plus, it's been quite well illustrated. Pity, the book is in quite bad condition...

Great for storytelling! submitted by krayla on July 19, 2014, 4:55pm I love telling this story to groups, with or without the book. It's a great alternative to more popular tricksters like Anansi. The pictures in this one are perfect for large or small groups.

Funny submitted by rimpopu on July 29, 2014, 12:24pm When a mouse goes strolling he meets a fox, an owl, and a snake who all want to eat him but he scares them away be mentioning a monstrous imaginative creature. But the mouse soon realizes that creature is not so imaginative after all when he encounters him! Uh-oh! Now, what shall the little mouse do to save himself? The narrative is simple and rhyming that children can easily understand. Just as with any trickster story, if you don't dwell deep into truth and lies, and wrong or right, then you will surely see the funny side of this story.

Gruffalo submitted by SBNB on June 30, 2015, 9:59pm Cute book that was made into an even cuter movie.

The Gruffalo submitted by avrogers1 on July 9, 2017, 10:58pm This is a very cute childrens book that tells the galiant story of a traveling mouse who manages to escape his foes by using their perceptions of other cretures against them. Along the way he meets the Gruffalo and befirends him.

love it submitted by Kanchan21 on July 4, 2018, 5:19pm My child just love this book and its so much fun to read it.

one of our favorites! submitted by halliejewell on August 21, 2018, 2:13pm my daughters love this book and it's a favorite every time we go visit the grandparents in England. The girls think the Gruffalo lives in the forest behind their grandparents farm!

Family Favorite submitted by Jillmscully on June 26, 2019, 6:00pm This book is a go-to bedtime story in our house. We have the puppet and the kids act out the story word for word because the story and rhymes are so memorable.

Classic submitted by TLW1998 on July 11, 2019, 9:48pm We love this rhyming book about how a mouse outsmarts all of these bigger animals. It is a family favorite.

Fun Trickster Tale submitted by Meginator on July 10, 2020, 4:58pm This charming tale follows a trickster mouse who finds, to their shock, that the tall tales they tell potential predators may not be as tall as (or, rather, may in fact be quite a bit taller than) they had thought. The playful meter and rhythmic repetition make this a great read-aloud book, and a series of subtle twists on the theme keep the book fresh to the end. This one should be a hit with readers of all ages; highly recommended.

Whats Not To Love submitted by emkovacs on June 24, 2021, 11:42pm Such a fun story about a small creature outsmarting those bigger than him. My 5 year old is just able to understand and grasp that aspect while my son loves the rhyming and bright illustrations. We reach for this book often.

Top Pick for Kids submitted by chleighm on July 9, 2021, 9:28pm This a favorite in our household (for adults and kids, which says a lot). The story is fun to read out loud and kids quickly pick up on the repetitious parts as they follow along. The illustrations are also clever.

The Gruffalo submitted by berryrxna on July 10, 2021, 8:55am I read this book in school it’s good!

Trickster tail submitted by Juliesharp91 on July 14, 2021, 5:32pm Another trickster tail but with a modern twist. A small mouse tricks larger animals so that they don’t eat him, but then the Gruffalo shows up and the mouse needs to figure out what to do with him. Similarly, AADL supervisors use intimidation tactics on employees to force them into quitting so as not to give sick days or provide accommodations for disabilities. Many employees like the mouse, in order to survive, end up tricking their supervisors by moving onto better employment.

Great To Read Aloud submitted by GSchne on July 23, 2022, 8:46pm So many great animal characters to invent silly voices and accents for. Fun book.

Love it! submitted by LittleWyatt on July 28, 2022, 12:04pm The clever little mouse was amazing and really showed that brains can be better than brawn.

Clever mouse submitted by trina05 on July 21, 2023, 10:41pm Such a wonderful book! The story and illustrations are fantastic
