The artwork in this (hand-colored woodcut prints) is gorgeous, and one reason I kept it checked out from my library for many many months - I kept pouring over the imagery, as inspiration for my own printmaking attempts (feeble by comparison!).
The poetry is lovely as well, and the science facts with each spread often contribute to the enjoyment. Prime example: Song of the Water Boatman and Backswimmer's Refrain. Once you understand how different the two insects are, the poem resonates on another level. Diving Beetle's Food-Sharing Rules will remind you of that joke about "toddlers' rules of ownership" (that morphs into "part of microsoft's business plan" :^).
