Scat and Sung Vocals submitted by Meginator on June 27, 2020, 5:30pm This album emphasizes Betty Carter’s scat, and her strong vocals (the highlight of this album) play with various styles within the jazz and blues genres. Carter’s ability to convey meaning without using traditional lyrics is astounding, and it works well in the uptempo improvisational settings as well as in the ballads.
