Handling a busy case load at The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency and contending with an intruder in her home, Mma Ramotswe has plenty on her mind. So when her unfortunate past returns to haunt her, she is happy her husband, Mr. J.L.B. Matekoni, is distracted as well. It seems one of his apprentices at Tlokweng Road Speedy Motors has raced off with an older, wealthy woman.

Great Addition to the Series submitted by Sara W on August 26, 2011, 10:27pm We've already come to love these characters - Mma Ramotswe and her relationship with Mr. JLB Matekoni, poor, hardworking, excitable Mma Makutsi and those hilarious, lazy rascals of apprentices are basically up to their same old tricks. Things move along a little more drastically in this installment than in some others in the series.

Probably the best arc of the novel is Mma Makutsi's foray into the dating world with a dancing class, when she has a partner who cannot dance and speaks with a dreadful stutter. Then there's her run-in with Violet Septhoto, which sets up a great antagonistic we'll get to enjoy for books to come.
