COMMUNITY REVIEWS
Armchair travel and romance. submitted by CaseyKoz on January 26, 2009, 5:05pm Again, as with Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood, I found it an advantage to be "consuming" Invitation to Provence with my ears. Again, accents and characterizations are enhanced by the fine acting of the reader. The novel is possibly your typical romance (I've never read a Danielle Steele, and don't normally choose "romance" as my preferred literary genre.) but it's spiced with a bit of mystery and murder. Certainly not The Great American Novel, and surely no comparison to Ya Ya's writing skills. In fact, not without its mis-steps in terms of portrayal of dog. All that being said, it's a great mindless "read," engaging characters, and portrayal of France successful enough to transport those of us stuck in snow to a delightful fantasy place. Pleasant distraction.
