"Originally published in single magazine form as Y: THE LAST MAN 1-5"--T.p. verso.
In the summer of 2002, a plague of unknown origin destroyed every last sperm, fetus, and fully developed mammal with a Y chromosome-with the apparent exception of one young man and his male pet. This "gendercide" instantaneously exterminated 48% of the global population, or approximately 2.9 billion men. Now, aided by the mysterious Agent 355, the last human male Yorick Brown must contend with dangerous extremists, a hoped-for reunion with a girlfriend on the other side of the globe, and the search for exactly why he's the only man to survive.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Excellent submitted by emjane on July 22, 2012, 6:21pm In Brian K Vaughan’s Y: The Last Man, something has caused all of the men in the world to die—all the men, that is, except Yorick a recent college graduate, amateur magician, and monkey owner. The world has become a dangerous place for everyone; half the population has died, and in their deaths left the country in shambles—roads are gridlocked, communication avenues have all but dried up, the Secretary of Agriculture has become president, and the country is beset with food shortages and paranoia. Yorick, unsure of why he and his monkey are the only beings with Y chromosomes to survive, journeys across the country in search of answers and a way to contact his girlfriend, Beth.

As hokey as the premise sounds, the entire 10-volume collection is a gripping, thought-provoking, and even funny series.

A Let Down submitted by dntanzer on August 30, 2018, 11:36am Saga by Brian Vaughn is one of my all-time favorite comic series so I was very excited to read this series, which has such great reviews. It was a boring, offensive start. The treatment/stereotyping of women in this book sucked. The humor didn't age well. And I was bored so I couldn't move past any of that to appreciate the book regardless.

bad submitted by Zaneeba on June 27, 2019, 8:26am this book was bad and i did not like it for many reasons, fist it was way to boring, second it was hard to understand
