COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Chilling submitted by Jhopson on August 7, 2013, 3:49pm Chilling depiction of psychopathic killer who coolly charms everyone and murders anyone who gets in his way. Christian Bale slides right into this creepy role.

Brilliant submitted by beeniepie on August 27, 2014, 2:59pm Christian Bale completely owns the role of Patrick Bateman. His obsession with perfection and image is palpable throughout his performance.

American Psycho submitted by lstorc on July 18, 2019, 9:55pm This is gross for no discernible reason. There are far better psychopathic movies.

Abysmally bad so far Reese Witherspoon is wasted here. submitted by Tassos on November 17, 2021, 7:01pm THe movie looks very, very dated, to the point of it being PATHETIC. Strange when the much older 1960 CLassicv by the GREAT HITCHCOCK is as fresh as if it was out yesterday.

The actors portraying the young men in this movie look like TOTAL BLOODY RETARDS. Seriously.

After only 10 minutes into this steaming, worthless pile of excrement, I could take it no longer and replaced it with another DVD. A GOOD one.

Satire submitted by jibkidder on July 25, 2022, 8:39pm Mary Harron was disturbed that the public failed to perceive this film as a satire. I think it is, for one, a strong satire, and for two, better than the book. I also, from time to time, consider giving Paul Schrader's awful, awful "The Canyons" a second try. I think the not very good work of Bret Easton Ellis is better in Harron's hands.

Biting Satire submitted by brooksza on July 26, 2023, 1:16pm This movie is obviously satirising the rich working class in 80's New York. Sadly the satire is still quite relevant today and hits hard. The movie is ridiculous and over the top to highlight the satire. There is lots of sex and violence in this movie, but it serves a purpose. I think the movie falters a bit at the end, but overall it tells a story of rich, white, male rage.

Light-hearted romp submitted by RebeccaWittekindt on August 15, 2023, 8:11am No, not at all. Very dark and twisted satire that skewers 80s yuppie culture. Christian Bale is gloriously unhinged, and the movie makes you doubt everything you’ve seen by the end.
