6 stars! submitted by MikeS on March 27, 2007, 10:51am This is my favorite, favorite book of 2006. I loved it. Critics said Wolfe was an old man trying to sound (in his writing) like a teen. Whatever. Even if that's true (and I'm not sure it is) wouldn't that be a literary device? Go with it. "Charlotte Simmons, c'est Tom Wolfe!"
A Favorite submitted by monkk on June 27, 2011, 6:07pm This is one of my "re-readers," you know the books you can read over again, enjoy it, and not feel bad for wasting your time reading something you've already read!
Very Well Researched and Written

Just finished this book, which I did not borrow, but bought for next to NOTHING, for.. a quarter ($0.25!!) from the Friends of the Library shop. Hardcover, looked like new. Even before I started reading it, I thought they way underpriced it (Why???).
It was very well written and well researched.
I wish it would give us more detail in the last few pages, where finally the great news happen. Instead, it gave a ton of detail earlier, when times were much harder for the protagonist, which got it an infamous "bad sex award" for the year.
Maybe he did it on purpose, to let the readers continue it with their imaginations.
Strongly Recommended!
