Life inside Henry James
submitted by DavidQ on June 10, 2009, 1:58pm
I picked up this book after the New York Times did a piece about Toibin that intrigued me. I knew very little about Henry James before reading it.
This is a rather earnest look at James, a genuinely internal fellow who never seems to strike a balance between his solitary, literary life, and his relationships with others... all of which is compounded by his closeted sexuality.
This is not a light read, but Toibin offers a very effective look inside a writer's life.
