Dead to The World submitted by Jacy on June 16, 2013, 3:18pm Another book in the Sookie Stackhouse series
Sookie Stackhouse
submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 15, 2013, 12:39pm
For those who watch "True Blood" the plot of this novel will not be a surprise as the TV show still followed the books faithfully through "Dead to the World," the fourth of the Southern vampire mystery series.
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD
However, the book portrays Wiccans (yes, Wicca is a real religion in the real world) very poorly, as extortionists and worse. Religious minorities already face so much persecution in the United States that they hardly need vampire novels to add to the mess. There are several deaths in the book, which make for a rather disturbing read. I was also disappointed that Sookie would get together with Eric, even if he is acting abnormally (for him), as Eric is one of the most selfish characters in his life who never takes any action unless it somehow benefits himself.
Nonetheless, the Sookie Stackhouse mysteries are a guilty pleasure.
A Lot Going On submitted by majean on August 16, 2018, 4:28pm In this novel, witches are real and have power (and continue on in future novels), there are weres of all kinds, and Eric is far more enjoyable with amnesia than without.
