Readable but not very original

Lev Grossman's Codex is the story of an investment banker who somehow gets roped into searching for a rare manuscript. And then there's this bit about a video game.
This book is a medieval The DaVinci Code with a bit of Snow Crash thrown in, which are both far better books if you're looking for something to read. The plot itself is a bit The Ninth Gate, which is an excellent movie if you're looking for something to watch. Basically, this book is entertaining but not terribly original.

A well-crafted novel submitted by bsharp331 on July 21, 2012, 4:32pm I disagree with the other 2 reviews- comparing Grossman to Dan Brown is just plain mean. Grossman is an engaging and inovative author, capable of writing complex characters and crafting endings that you don't see coming but afterword seem inevitable.
