Based on the 1989 television series: Cosmos.
Travels in space and time (60 min.) -- The lives of the stars (60 min.)
In a 13 part series Carl Sagan discusses the relationship between man and the universe. Part 8: A voyage to see how star patterns change over millions of years is followed by a journey to the planets of other stars, and a look at the possibility of time travel-- which takes the viewer to Italy, where the youthful Einstein first wondered what it would be like to ride on a beam of light. Part 9: Using computer animation, shows how stars are born, live and die and sometimes collapse to form black holes. Viewers then journey to the future to witness "the last perfect day on Earth," 5 billion years from now when the sun will engulf the earth.
