Punky Rock submitted by kencza on August 2, 2019, 10:41pm A solid debut for this group of rockers..... loaded with hard hitting riffs, and racous beat. Songs like C'mon C'mon, Crawl through the Darkness, and Pawn Shoppe Heart show off their chops. The vocals are alternately sweet and rough, lots of range and guts. I'm surprised they did not ultimately have a little more success.
90s Ann Arbor Rockers get their shot
submitted by irenzero on June 21, 2022, 5:54pm
Pulling members of the Ann Arbor area bands The Baby Killers and Mazinga, The Von Bondies were part of the Punky Blues scene in southeast Michigan of the early 2000s and were able to deliver Pawn Shop Heart their one and only major label record. C'mon C'mon was used as the theme for the TV show Rescue Me, and had some traction on on the charts peaking at #25 in the USA.
That is all too bad because this is a solid record that deserved better.
They never followed it up on with Sire Records, who were chasing the "Emo" market at the point the band was ready to head back to the studio.
