Who Needs Vocals, Anyway? submitted by Meginator on June 11, 2021, 5:44pm This album has a fairly consistent aesthetic, generally focusing on songs that rely on the lead guitar to carry the melody, and it makes for a nice throwback to the heyday of this type of music, as the last vestiges of the Big Band Era made way for rock and roll. The songs generally move along at a nice clip, with catchy repeated motifs to set the tone while distinguishing them from one another, and listening to them now makes me wish that modern pop and rock made more room for instrumentals; as these groups prove, you can say a lot without using words, even in a genre that practically requires lyrics in the modern era.
