White Lake, Michigan is the setting submitted by hoppingfun on June 29, 2011, 2:12pm This is in an incredible story that takes place just half an hour from Ann Arbor. This kid collected radioactive materials from smoke alarms, glow-in-dark watches, and other sources and built a model of a nuclear reactor in his backyard and basement—complete with neutron gun. And he did it, in part, in order to become an Eagle Scout before he turned 18, earning a coveted Atomic Energy badge. As authorities closed in (in hazmat suits), he dumped much of his science project in a landfill. Word has it that there's a movie in the making.
