Better than the Matrix itself!
This collection of independent works revolving around the Matrix universe answers many of the questions left after seeing the live-action movies. The greatest of these shorts, The Second Renaissance (split into 2 parts), finally tells us the story of how the Matrix came to be, while also giving us an Asimovian-style look into our own psyche. Overall, the Animatrix is an absolute MUST for any fan of the Matrix series.
