In ancient times the Rings of Power were crafted by the Elven-smiths, and Sauron, the Dark Lord, forged the One Ring, filling it with his own power so that he could rule all others. But the One Ring was taken from him, and though he sought it throughout Middle-Earth still it remained lost to him. After many ages it fell, by chance, into the hands of the Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins. Excellent!
This is a fantastic movie! It adapts from the book quite well. The first hour is a little slow (like the book), but it picks up and is a great movie!

I'd been puzzled the Oscars for these movies having read more about production than actually viewing cinema period! But, for action & adventure it does indeed mark a scale change, although to my mind? It's perhaps only the glorification of these the real problem two in particular Peter Jackson & Elijah Wood! The product is fine, but so based upon costuming, green screen landscape scenes, & setting art direction well? It's not acting is weak, just can't be faulted, which is better stated as good or well! As opposed? Solid even competent! You can't really be mad! Given chances equally fine works those greatness ascribed will go not noted! But as for the material? I'd found these series like "Indian in the Cupboard" particularly lacking appeal! However knowing there are those that swear by the fantasy portion or adventure side of action it's quite achievement!
Great
This is one of the few cases the movies are as good as the books. This is the first movie in the series. Its a little long but worth watching for anyone.
