good submitted by codyson159 on July 30, 2011, 11:19pm i like this movie

good plot submitted by Jackie77 on August 16, 2015, 8:36pm The plot was good, but the acting was not so much. Their is a true story about this haopening many years ago, yet the movie doesnt claim to be based on true events. I wonder if they used that story for the film idea.

Crazy Retelling of a Crazy True Story submitted by Sara W on August 21, 2015, 9:34am The most interesting thing about this movie is that it's based on a true story. I think I enjoyed the film more knowing the back story of both characters, otherwise, it can be a bit of a leap to comprehend how these two become wrapped up in such an intense and obsessive friendship. The girls' acting is over the top, but I think that goes along with the fact that they are portraying teenagers desperately seeking an outlet for creativity, love, expression, recognition, etc.

It's also an interesting origin story for some major figures in film today: Kate Winslet and filmmaker Peter Jackson.

Gorgeous and Disturbing submitted by shira.pilarski on July 18, 2020, 3:46pm This dreamy film is somehow simultaneously a charming fantasy about two girls living in an alternate world, a youthful lesbian romance, and a harrowing true crime story. The acting is incredible, particularly from Lynskey and Winslet, who were both newcomers to the world of mainstream cinema. What's incredible is that both Pauline and Juliet are still alive -- Juliet has become the popular mystery author Anne Perry (search for her in AADL's catalog), while Pauline has moved to a life of solitude in Scotland.

Swept up in the Crazy submitted by laurenmccarthya2 on June 13, 2023, 10:23am I read about Anne Perry's hidden past (real life Kate Winslet's character) and needed to see this film for three reasons: Kate & Melanie's early/first roles, see how closely it tracked the true crime, see how the absolute overwhelming emotions that led to the murder were portrayed. All of which were worthwhile. Since we are old, my wife and I kept identifying with the parents - what do you do when your teens are so overwrought? Worth a viewing.
