Terrific submitted by willow on July 13, 2015, 12:40pm This is one of my favorite Hitchcock movies -- so atmospheric, with a great use of music. The costuming is also wonderful, and the story itself is cleverly done.
They say this is Hitchcock's favorite, of his films; it's not mine. submitted by lisa on July 26, 2018, 4:25pm I dunno, this creepiness is just obvious to me. I think that's the problem. Who ever really doubts that creepy Uncle Charlie's really creepy?
Classic submitted by m.donovich on June 12, 2021, 11:00am In this 1943 film, Screenwriter Thornton Wilder creates a suspenseful story in the backdrop of small town America. The writing is superb with many later screenwriters using his. techniques, which we now take for granted. Hitchcock is brilliant as ever.

Yes, we know Uncle Charlie is demonic early in the film, but we still get surprised along the way. Teresa Wright
steals the limelight with a great performance, and a strong supporting cast elevates the suspense.
