COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Incomparably Great submitted by Meginator on August 17, 2020, 11:27pm Billie Holiday’s voice is absolutely iconic: inspired by the blues, her smooth and evocative vocals add as much to the music with their style as they do with their lyrical substance, creating an impossibly rich aesthetic experience with layers of meaning in each and every track. Holiday’s conscious use of her voice as an instrument adds quiet complexity to each song she sings, and the experience is thrilling. Few singers, in jazz or elsewhere, are comparable; she is one of the bets of all time, in any genre, ever captivating.
