Wonderful submitted by monipate on July 30, 2012, 9:57pm Cher is amazing and Nicolas Cage is, well, rewarding. So many classic scenes that are boundlessly entertaining. Watch this, you shouldn't regret it.

Funny submitted by crazypockets on July 24, 2013, 11:31am The performances in this movie are so great. It cracks me up every time I watch it. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be as funny as I find it, though. I just love how overly dramatic everything is. Especially with Nicholas Cage's character, and I love Cher's reactions to him. I think the point is that it's meant to be operatic, and it definitely succeeds.

Amazing! submitted by mmckenzie on June 25, 2017, 2:23pm Have watched this multiple times. Love it every time. So many good actor's performances, in addition to Cher and Nick Cage.

"modified to fit TV screen" submitted by Morty on August 13, 2020, 12:58pm This film was released theatrically in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio, which is different from the 1.33:1, "old-TV-screen" aspect ratio of the version of the film on the AADL's DVD, but that doesn't mean anything was clipped off the right and left edges of the 1.85:1 frames. Rather, the film was shot in 1.33:1, and then the top and bottom of all the frames were clipped off in post-production to create the 1.85:1 theatrical release. As a result, what you see in this 1.33:1 version is not as tightly framed top-to-bottom as it is in the 1.85:1 theatrical release version. To see the difference for yourself, watch the trailer, which is 1.85:1, and compare any frame or shot in it to the same frame or shot in the DVD version of the film.

The New York Italian American Family Refreshes the Silver Screen submitted by ekjensen on August 30, 2020, 9:11am If you have ever married into, lived as, and/or interacted with an Italian American family you should this film. It still holds up well, as Cher, Vincent Guardino and Olympia Dukakis show the pitfalls and genuine love as middle-aged daughter, patriarch and matriarch go through their current love bittersweet relationships. Nicolas Cage and Danny Aiello are the perfectly mismatched brothers who are both in love with Cher's character of Loretta. Very sweet, happy ending movie with the perfect backdrop of the city and opera, La Boheme, is sprinkled well throughout the film music including an inside step into the MET at Lincoln Center.
