Great Book Club Choice! submitted by sdunav on July 8, 2016, 11:54am Compelling story of two Bangladeshi sisters - one who comes to the UK for an arranged marriage, and one who elopes with her lover and stays in Bangladesh. Both have hard lives, albeit in very different ways, and deal with men, female friends, and work over the years from 1985 to 2001. This is often used as a book club selection, and I can see why - there's tons to discuss, lots of very interesting cultural things, political things, etc.

Plus the writing - the mix of poetry and the mundane (omg, the wife paring down her husband's corns!) - is just incredible.
