Set in Italy in 1938, when Mussolini's anti-Semitic edicts began to isolate the Jews from their communities. Among them were the Finzi-Continis, an aristocratic Jewish family forced for the first time to acknowledge the world beyond its fenced garden.

Still works today (2012) submitted by ekjensen on August 22, 2012, 2:17pm This De Sica film is still worthwhile for today's viewer and offers up another perspective, Italian one, to the start of the holocaust in Europe. Also a great chance to practice one's Italian.
