Determined to be human, she strikes a bargain with the devious seawitch, Ursula, and trades her fins and beautiful voice for legs. With her best friend Flounder, and her reluctant chaperone Sebastian at her side, Ariel must win the prince's love and save her father's kingdom.

The Little Mermaid submitted by SBNB on July 28, 2012, 7:09pm This is a classic Disney movie. As a kid, it was never one of my favorites (because Octopus-Woman scared me), but it's a good story and I think most kids will enjoy it.

My daughter's favorite submitted by andrea on August 30, 2013, 9:59pm My daughter watched this over and over this summer after seeing her brother in the musical. It's a classic Disney movie, but there are songs in the musical that I really wish were in the movie. Of course the movie manages some effects that would be very hard to create on stage!

Hooked! submitted by Kaydence paige on August 16, 2014, 6:42pm All the kids love this movie!

Bad messages submitted by steveiew on August 19, 2015, 1:45pm This movie does not send a great message to young people regarding relationships.

Scarier than I remembered submitted by shosh.lenski on August 25, 2015, 9:48pm My 4 year old didn't seem to mind too much, but if I had remember I would not have shown it to her.

Not as scary as I remembered! submitted by EllieN-W on August 30, 2015, 11:19pm Waited until my daughter was 8 years old to show it to her because I remember certain scenes being really scary. But it is not nearly as scary as many more recent Disney animated movies - so was kind of a let down. She liked it, but hasn't really asked to watch it again.

Bad quality DVD submitted by emilytrentacosta on July 19, 2016, 5:40pm This movie still has great music, but the concepts are a little outdated/sexist. unfortunately the quality of the DVD was quite poor and started skipping mid-way through. We were unable to watch the whole movie.

Disney Revival Classic submitted by Meginator on August 3, 2017, 3:28pm The Little Mermaid sits firmly within the pantheon of the Disney Renaissance and for good reason. The animation is smooth, the acting is outstanding, and the songs are timeless, with some of the best supporting characters of all of Disney's animated films; between Sebastian, Scuffle, Flounder, and the deliciously villainous Ursula, you hardly even need Ariel herself. This film may not resonate as much with modern audiences who want slightly more heroism from their leading ladies, but Ariel has a lot of gumption and does at least stick up for herself, even if other aspects of the film can be somewhat problematic. Still, this film is a classic for good reason and should remain relatively timeless.

one of my favorite Disney movies submitted by meghantpowell on August 31, 2018, 11:41pm Great Disney movie. Watched it a lot when I was young, though I always wished the guy (Eric) would have become a merman instead. Ah well.
