Good Tribute Album submitted by teri on July 2, 2018, 3:54pm A nice selection of artists - each taking ownership of a distinctly Johnny Cash song. It's as if you hear both Cash and the tribute artist at the same time. The style of each performer shines - none of them sing the song as Cash did. I enjoyed them all!

Excellent Tribute submitted by Meginator on July 6, 2019, 9:15pm This is one of those tribute albums that sticks close to the source material, and each of these artists channels Johnny Cash’s signature gruff energy in their own unique way without drifting too far away from it. This still makes for an excellent production, given the consistently high quality of the artists who contributed to it; these recordings are different enough from Cash’s iconic versions that they demonstrate the ways in which the Man in Black influenced them. Most of the featured artists generally play styles closely related to Cash’s brand of country, and though all of them do an admirable job adapting these classic tracks, the most surprising covers come from unexpected artists like Little Richard and Keb’ Mo’. Altogether, everything comes together to create a lovely celebration of one of music’s all-time great songwriters.
