Let's give a hoot for Hoot! submitted by shalinigurl on July 10, 2011, 11:43am This touching story is what critics call "amazing" "another hit by Hiaasen" but what I call it is touching. Carl Hiaasen really knows what he's doing when it comes to mystery books...especially for kids. I especially love it because it shows a knew side of bravery you hardly see these days! You just HAVE to read the book. Once you're done, you'll know what I mean. So give a hoot for HOOT!

Hoot submitted by Smiles on July 18, 2011, 1:48pm Roy, who just moved to Florida saw a guy running bear foot. It turns out he is trying to stop people from building a pancake place on top of owls. Roy decides to join him and stop the people from killing baby owls.

Hoot submitted by camelsamba on July 28, 2011, 1:52pm Roy gets drawn in to the events almost without choice (reactive rather than proactive). But when he does make a choice, his efforts yield big results. I especially like the speech he made to his class.

Hoot submitted by Smurf05 on July 23, 2012, 2:00pm 4 HOOTS for this book!

HOOT!!! submitted by Motomori on July 7, 2013, 10:51am Hoot is probably the best Carl Hiaasen books ever! Follow the adventure of a boy named Roy who finds out that there is a construction site where Burrowing Owls live and tries to stop them with the help of his friends, Beatrice and Mullet Fingers!

Hoot submitted by willchet on July 7, 2014, 7:54am The perfect combination of a mystery and fighting for what you believe in.

Fun Mystery submitted by me11yagn on August 30, 2019, 7:07pm I think Roy's curiosity was a great approach to him finding out the truth. This was a fun book.

young activism submitted by czadams on August 28, 2022, 11:00am I love the way this teaches kids to be involved in what they are passionate about. They have power and agency to protect the environment and animals around them!
