COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Red Pumps submitted by schoenbaechlere on August 11, 2011, 9:43am Not only does Juliette Binoche look lovely throughout the movie, the themes (and foods) are equally appealing.

Chocolat submitted by SBNB on June 23, 2019, 8:32pm This movie is pretty good. I watched it years ago and still think about it sometimes.

Good submitted by crp on August 24, 2019, 3:52am Really nice watch with good acting

Why is this movie in ENGLISH???? It happens on a small French village where bloody NOBODY even speaks english. submitted by Tassos on November 21, 2022, 5:06pm If some key actors could not speak French, why didn't they change the script and make the movie to be about a small ENGLISH village? It is doubly ridiculous, because the lead actress is a famous FRENCH movie queen.

The actors may be very accomplished (or some of them anyway) but the script SUCKS, compared to very similar movies which were in FRENCH and which I have thoroughly enjoyed. This is a rather humorless soap opera with lots of stereotypes that tend to portray men as dumb or worse, and women as mostly wonderful. I assume the movie's intended audience is old ladies, who should enjoy it a lot.

A final note, casting Johnny Depp as a.... gypsy (Romani) without even bothering to use some make up on his face to make him BELIEVABLE, is TRULY RIDICULOUS. The Roma came from INDIA, not .. HOLLYWOOD. Was it so difficult, with Bollywood being such a VAST industry, to find a good male actor who actually LOOKS like a ROma???? THis is as ridiculous as casting Miss America to play Eleanor ROosevelt. Speak of the island of miscast actors!
