This movie is bona fide. submitted by crwilley on August 23, 2013, 7:50am It has prospects. Hilarious prospects. Terrific acting (especially John Goodman and Charles Durning), wonderful soundtrack (that convinced me I was wrong about not liking bluegrass), great story.

Fun Movie submitted by Cherrytreelane on June 27, 2017, 3:57pm Great movie, some romance, some comedy, lots of period humor

O, Brother... submitted by Marykw21 on August 12, 2017, 12:38pm O, Brother, where art thou was fantastic. Though I have to admit I was extremely confused the whole time. But that's probably because I was trying to read into it WAY more than it needed. But the acting was phenomenal and the music fit very well. I'd say it's well worth a watch or two.

Comedy, adventure submitted by elepling on August 7, 2018, 5:11pm Interesting to watch after reading the Odyssey, lots of references

great submitted by manz on July 7, 2019, 4:20pm a great film, with a great soundtrack. and it's funny!!! a must view.

surprising, clever, and strange submitted by FordAlpha on August 13, 2019, 10:52am In addition to its terrific soundtrack, which revitalized interest in American roots music, "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" has great acting, a clever literary structure, humor both broad and subtle, impressive visuals, and many unexpected twists. It's not to everyone's taste, though, and that's fine. I don't think it's intended to have universal appeal.

Imagine George Clooney with hair oil and mud submitted by ccrose on August 26, 2019, 7:01pm A very funny take on Odyssey, the Sirens an all. Wonder if you took it out of the South would it work? There’s good physical comedy, the trio bearing a resemblance to Wizard of Oz trio with a lot less common sense. John Goodman has been used in a big handful of Coen roles. I was thrilled with the music, put together by music editor T-bone Burnett .in the Jailhouse is a fun song. Try it one night with your buds.
There’s a falling off of energy as they search for how to tie it all up. But, hey the ride was great.

OK but not great. submitted by Tassos on October 18, 2019, 7:54am I did not see the movie when it came out, I was repulsed by the ads showing three retarded, dirty convicts rampaging. I saw it on DVD and it was better than the average crap from Hollywood, but don't get carried away, comparisons to the Odyssey are utterly RIDICULOUS. It may pay a little bitty homage to it, but please!
