Chaos Theory

What's most compelling about Nashville is watching Altman reveal pieces of his vision, staged and set in motion as a major happening with a talented ensemble cast. It's almost like we're watching a cinema verite documentary and catching as much as we can during a heightened time in the country music mecca of Nashville. It's an unusual viewing experience, as it's so fragmented we may feel we're missing out on some of the stories. And to invest this deeply into a whole fictional reality and fascinating cast of characters, it feels like Nashville could have been best served as a TV series in the realm of Twin Peaks. I walked away feeling that Altman was ahead of his time, prescient of films and shows that felt his influence decades later.
