Number One submitted by jnfaro on June 22, 2011, 5:40pm This movie really shows what Hogwarts looks like on the inside. It's a great start to the series. The casting was done really well. You've got to see the movie if you're a Harry Potter fan and even if you're not, you should still see it.

Movie vs Book submitted by baifamily2 on July 4, 2011, 8:59pm This is a great movie that hooks the, "watcher," in, just like the book does to the reader. Great movie, but, "The book is always better than the movie."

Movie submitted by hvandermark on July 6, 2011, 2:01pm This was a great movie as far as i'm concerned

harry potter and the sorcerers stone submitted by kahan2021 on July 8, 2011, 9:09am I liked it a lot. It was a little scary but i still liked it. My favorite part was when Dudley, Harry's cousin grew a pigs tail by Hagrid. I also liked when Hermione set Snape's cape on fire.

amazing submitted by sunitas on August 2, 2011, 8:19am amazing

Read the books first submitted by ferdoble on August 2, 2011, 5:41pm These are ok. I was hard on them at first because of the corny computer animation and what I thought were bad decisions on what to put in (and I still feel that way). Not to mention that its hard to find good actors in the 10 and 11 range.

But the movies get better and better and all the way to being pretty good. To the point where I now look forward to watching the last of them. Well, not really looking forward to the last of them, it was too sad a book for me to really want to see the movie.

If I can say one thing it’s that you should read the books first. The real magic is in those books, I think that you’ll miss out on a lot if you do it the other way round.

And neither of the actors playing Dumbledoor got it right. I’m not sure if a human could, but neither one of them even got close.

great movie submitted by morganf on August 3, 2011, 6:43pm I love the Harry Potter series. This is a great book and an awesome movie. The wizarding is much more exciting then the muggle world.

good, but read the books first submitted by jkl on August 10, 2011, 3:49pm You should really read the books first, it will let you imagine things on you own! I really liked this movie it was one of the better ones in the series, with a great plot (duh), decent special effects and really good acting. Seemed like some of the important parts were missing but it's kinda hard to fit everything in.

stone submitted by Marc8 on August 12, 2011, 4:37pm hiden

Great start! submitted by mrsaturns on June 15, 2012, 10:31pm This is the start of a great series of fantasy, suspense, and mystery. It was sad to be betrayed by one of the teachers though.

NICE! submitted by leehannah on June 17, 2012, 6:18pm I really enjoyed this movie, because it was the first and I just thought it was awesome! This movie took me through the whole series! I read the books more than 1 time through and then I saw all of the movies! It was cool to see all of the characters grow and change so much! I really enjoyed it and I think that this series is probably one of my top 3

Great Intro to the wondrous world of Harry Potter submitted by Josie Brown on July 18, 2014, 6:09pm Sure, it's different from the book, but seriously, do you think the movie can really cover every single thing the book covered? I personally like being surprised when the movie is different. Anyway, this movie wowed me when I was five and it still wows me as a teen.

Amazing Movie!!!! submitted by peterflorence on July 18, 2014, 6:35pm This is a great movie!

A great book and movie! submitted by KSB2013 on June 14, 2015, 12:45pm It was a great movie, i liked the sound effects, and how they cast their spells.

My favorite submitted by ifechijie on June 19, 2015, 6:11pm It's great for anyone in school because everyone can relate and every kid wants to be a wizard! It has a good balance of scary and fun, and it's not a Voldemorty and evil.

Great! submitted by yujiehua on June 20, 2015, 8:43pm Great!

nice submitted by yslee on June 29, 2015, 8:55pm the book was better, but the movie was cool too

Pretty Good submitted by EllieN-W on August 30, 2015, 11:45pm Our 8 year old loved it. Seems kind of dated now, hard to believe that it would since it isn't that old.

good start to a good series submitted by kathscot on June 27, 2016, 10:08am Nice way to get into the stories. Fun acting, but I still like the books better.

2 1/2 Rating submitted by Shannon2336 on June 28, 2016, 11:34am The movie was okay but I think 1, The book is much better 2,The actors could use some work like Lizzy said and 3, Go Slytherin!!!!!!!!!

Sorcerer's Stone submitted by staceylbrockman on July 16, 2016, 1:34pm Cute movie; not the best acting, but understandable b/c it's one of the earlier movies in the series

Awesome submitted by kelleyc on July 26, 2016, 8:56am Great start to the series

Amazzing. submitted by syedaayeshar on July 31, 2016, 1:31pm The series of harry potter is a really fantastic series. They capture your attention like no way else. From the train to Hogwarts to fighting lord Voldemort. This series is one of a kind. I recommenced everyone to read all the books and watch all the flims. Trust me once you start reading or watching this seris you will never want it to go away. I have watched the film over and over and this is one of those serifs you will never get tired of.

Azaming!!! submitted by Rebecca Zhuang on June 19, 2017, 9:50am It is scary and exciting!

Beautifully done! submitted by chioma on June 29, 2017, 2:47pm Like any book to movie, the bok is always better, but there is no book to movie movie that is better than the Harry Potter movies. Beautifully done!

Good Series Start submitted by Meginator on July 7, 2017, 3:22pm This film does an excellent job bringing the world of Harry Potter to life, even if some of the specifics differ from what I pictured in my own imagination while reading the books. The lead actors are a bit raw, and understandably so, but the outstanding supporting cast buoys them somewhat; it's also easier to forgive the younger actors' occasional thespian missteps because the characters themselves are the same ages and prone to certain ways of speaking and acting. The effects in this movie are usually pretty good, even if a few CGI-heavy moments are less than convincing, and I disagree with some of the (yes, necessary) deletions (wherefore art thou, Peeves?). Minor quibbles aside, the Harry Potter film franchise gets off to a strong start in this film, which captures the spirit of wonder that readers (and Harry himself) experience upon their first introduction to Hogwarts and the wizarding world. This film should serve as a good entry point for viewers who haven't read the books and is high enough quality to please most of us who are already familiar with the source material.

Amazing movie submitted by accountsfpd on August 12, 2017, 10:05am This movie is so good. A must watch!

Cheesy, but nostalgic submitted by lswatts42 on August 12, 2017, 12:16pm As the movies went on, the movie characters diverged from the book characters. So this is the most accurate when it comes to the real book's personality.

GOod submitted by Zaneeba on June 25, 2018, 9:35am it was only so so but it was good

Best Ever submitted by Rumshaker13 on July 13, 2018, 10:44pm We love Harry Potter, highly recommend!

Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone submitted by lstorc on August 6, 2018, 12:18am Well adapted from the book

It is so good submitted by SadieRose on August 16, 2018, 1:20pm They are great!

Magical submitted by anacoluthon on August 20, 2018, 1:35am Movies never do books justice, but the early Harry Potter films are enjoyable in their own right

10/10 Will watch again submitted by elizabeth mayhew on August 23, 2018, 1:23am This movie brought Harry Potter and the places in it to life! I can't imagine Gringotts and Ollivanders any other way

Great movie! submitted by Xris on August 26, 2018, 1:09am I wish I had gotten a letter on my 11th birthday and could have gone to Hogwarts! This movie brought the world of Harry Potter to life! (Though I miss Peeves in the whole series of movies.)

HARRY POTTER IS LIFE submitted by WiseRaven on August 26, 2018, 7:04pm AND EMMA WATSON IS ADORABLE

They didn't really grasp what they were in for submitted by valjean on August 27, 2018, 12:54am You can tell as they were watching this, they were hoping to eventually make all the books and that they would be popular. But, they had no idea the absolute maelstrom of fandom and money this would become. It's great to see many years later and think about what grew from this movie series.

Fun movie! submitted by choichr on June 27, 2019, 5:57pm I really enjoy the Harry Potter movies!

Alright submitted by c_zhang on June 29, 2019, 12:18am It's decent, but not as good as the book.

Fairly Close to the Book submitted by Abbie D. on June 29, 2022, 10:24am There were a lot of lines and scenes directly taken from the book which is always great to see. Of course the books will always be better, but this is a great start to an amazing series!

Classic submitted by wilcomea on July 19, 2022, 3:48pm Characters fit so well to the book descriptions & the story is fun.

Adorable submitted by ruffnuttuffnut on December 28, 2022, 12:22pm Harry, Ron, and Hermione are such cute little children. This is the most faithful of all the movies so it is the best. :)
I think maybe the Quidditch scene is my favorite. And of course anything involving Snape.
