Flowing Saxophone Jazz submitted by Meginator on August 12, 2020, 6:09pm Kenny Garrett’s performances offer a nice entry into modern jazz for listeners more familiar with other music genres. Each track of saxophone-based jazz balances hooks and repeated melodic forms with solo sections, feeling almost like pop music in its structure but remaining firmly rooted in jazz traditions. The music has a kind of freedom to it and flows easily; many of the drum beats are innovative and unexpected, and the whole ensemble is keyed in.
