cute pic book!

This is a good picture book. It's funny and features silly animals. I mean, a DUCK on a BIKE! C'mon, it's funny. Thank you David Shannon. A great readaloud for preschool age.

Shannon does it again!

I love everything by David Shannon, but 'Duck on a Bike' is definitely one of my favorites! Duck is very sassy and smug as he rides by all the other farm animals on a bike. The other animals are dumbfounded and seem to be judging Duck, but maybe they are just a little bit jealous! This is a great read-aloud for groups!

Funny Read-Aloud

When Duck finds a bicycle on the farm, he decides to give cycling a try, zooming around the other farm animals who offer their opinions about Duck’s antics, but when a pack of children leave their bicycles nearby, all the animals feel inspired to try cycling too. This humorous adaptation of the typical farm-animal story introduces children to ten typical farm animals – ducks, cows, sheep, dogs, cats, horses, chickens, goats, pig and mice – but wraps it all up in a truly delightful premise. This picture book is further enhanced by double-spread oil illustrations that not only capture the comic heart of this story but also project well for storytime purposes. Indeed, this book would be an excellent selection for preschool storytime, offering a repetitive structure and plenty of animal sounds to encourage audience participation. The climactic illustration of the all the animals pedaling away will likely draw giggles from children as well.
