Fantastic submitted by ljq on July 9, 2011, 5:56pm Matt Damon does a really good job in this movie.

A masterpiece submitted by markwells on July 17, 2011, 12:33pm This is one of the best war movies ever made and probably the best cinematic rendering of World War Two that you'll find. Steven Spielberg pulls out all the stops and thrusts us onto the beach at Normandy in the middle of all the horrible action. The first 30 minutes of this movie is nearly exhausting in the totality of out and out attack and battle for survival. Spielberg spares nothing. He captures every detail of the chaos in frightening clarity. As the smoke clears and the dust settles we can catch our breath and get on with our business of saving Private Ryan. The action doesn't stop there though and neither does the realism. Make no mistake this is not a heartless action flick. With the well-acted story line, colorful cast of characters, and documentary worthy cinematography. This motion picture is a moving experience. A must see!

great movie submitted by jszchen on August 25, 2011, 8:58pm This is a very heartfelt movie

Heartwrenching submitted by williamc on July 12, 2012, 7:20pm Markwells already said everything about this movie. It's emotional, the characters are developed really well and it's got a killer soundtrack (John Williams). The only bad thing about "Saving Private Ryan" was it's length (almost three hours long).

whoa submitted by smgop on July 10, 2014, 8:36pm felt like I'd been hit by a truck after watching this, but glad i did.

great war movie submitted by Jackie77 on August 20, 2015, 8:47pm Very sad and heartwrenching story. All the actors did a fabulous job helping make it seem so incredibly reall. Whats worse is that it probably is real way more than wed like to believe.

A True Classic submitted by GJBarnett2 on August 20, 2016, 10:05pm One of the best movies, let alone war movies, ever made.

awesome! submitted by yufamily on August 13, 2019, 12:27pm A true classic

This event was big in the numbers of soldiers invokved submitted by ccrose on August 31, 2019, 10:42pm And it was critical to stop the Germans. And the odds for surviving were very bad.
Making this movie laid it out for those who didn’t understand its terrible price.
It’s graphic. You soon realize you’re assuming one character will make it come out alive. And they don’t. It was just luck. If they believed God would protect them, it came down to knowing it will be only up to you.

Good War Movie submitted by caburr47 on July 1, 2020, 8:21pm Viewing the D-Day section is not for the feint of heart.
Tom Hanks is a national treasure that never fails to bring the gravitas necessary to the role of the Captain.
The cast is really a who's who before they made it big that Matt Damon rounds out perfectly and the movie would not have been the same without them. If you like this I highly recommend Band of Brothers, my preferred Spielberg-Hanks WWII project.

Favorite WW2 movie submitted by dave_472 on July 19, 2020, 2:06pm My favorite WW2 movie ever, action packed, great film!

great cinema submitted by crp on July 28, 2020, 2:18pm great cinematic product of spielberg, who almost never disappoints! action packed and i usually don't even like action.

Very moving submitted by Upsilamba on June 20, 2022, 10:54am A very moving, emotional portrait of war. Very graphic violence at times, but never in a way that feels gratuitous or cheap. One of my high school history teachers met a veteran who was there at D-Day, and the veteran told him that the D-Day scene was the most accurate depiction he had seen.

War movie submitted by TLW1998 on June 25, 2022, 11:28pm A fantastic war movie
