Success

A calculating actress works her way to the top in this movie. It's up to the viewer to decide if her motivation and means to succeed are backstabbing and manipulative, or if she is clever, ambitious, and courageous. Is Eve admirable and hardworking? Or is she vindictive and sociopathic? Another way to look at the film is as an examination of male attitudes regarding female success. Only Margo (whose star was fading before meeting Eve) and male film critics find Eve to be devious. Is this undercurrent of sexism the true point of the film?
