The Name Jar submitted by SBNB on July 8, 2015, 2:02pm This story is about a Korean girl that moves to the US and becomes ashamed of her name after American school children make fun of it. I wasn't sure about this story at first, but the ending made the story great. I recommend it.
Broaden child's understanding submitted by jackson.sarah.jean on July 29, 2015, 9:16am This is a good book that talks about another person's culture and making it work in a different country. My children were able to have a safe place to talk about students in their classroom that are international students and have names that we are not used to. It was good to put themselves in the shoes of another person.
OK submitted by cbrewster on July 25, 2018, 5:14pm My kids thought it was interesting, but said it was only ok. It does have a good message about staying true to yourself.
Good ending submitted by Xris on August 26, 2021, 11:19pm I work in a school and hope that kids feel comfortable enough to keep their own beautiful name. I love that she worked with her class at the end to pronounce it correctly, and that her friend got a Korean nickname! :)
