COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Great Collection! submitted by Beth Manuel on July 29, 2015, 6:06pm One might forget what an amazing band this was in the 70's! So many hits, and a great duo of musicians backed by stellar bandmates. REALLY GOOD!!

Good rock with excellent unexpected attitude submitted by ccrose on August 7, 2019, 10:20pm This West Coast band didn’t sound like any other and I think it was the musical sounds and funky slow swing feel plus lyrics that were also unique, like a poet’s play with words.
A title I love, because of its twist: “Hey, Nineteen” , dancers, one nineteen and her older partner who finds it hard to accept that she doesn’t know Aretha Franklin. He says, “Well, we can’t talk at all...”
Steely Dan maintained a kind of 50’s cool attitude, another quality that made them easily recognizable. Donald Fagan, keyboardist and composer, was handy with jazz chords, key changes. Walter Becker, guitar, was the man with the lyrics. I still like the sound. And the beat that ran just below the repetitive pop metronome setting of 118.
