Kind of like a kid-friendly noir submitted by eilusk on August 3, 2022, 10:50pm LOVED this one. It does a great job tackling Sammy's tough feelings about her loving-but-deeply-flawed mother, and the grime behind Hollywood glitz, while still being funny and relatively upbeat. It's charming that this felt like kind of a "special" book in the series... like the book version of a season finale or a big budget travel episode. It was extra exciting with big drama and lots of new characters and places, and the "fish out of water" element gave Sammy's narration lots of material for humor. I think this could work as an introduction to the series, though it's probably not the best place to start.
