Detailed and interesting! submitted by crwilley on June 17, 2014, 10:38am This book combines a facsimile of the original edition of The Wizard of Oz (including the original illustrations, in the signature color of the location where each chapter's action takes place!) with detailed background information on L. Frank Baum, illustrator W. W. Denslow, the Oz books in general, and this book in specific. As a child, I read the Oz series over and over and over; as an adult, I found the annotations and other additional information absolutely fascinating. (Your five-year-old probably will not; if you're looking for a copy for a child, try a different edition.)
