Long, but worth it submitted by emjane on August 16, 2017, 8:58pm Michael Chabon can write! Characters you care about, compelling storyline, and an immersive setting.
Incredible book! submitted by Team_ROX on June 22, 2018, 9:43am One of the best books I’ve read in a while. Incredibly developed characters, with a story that is easy to become very invested in. One of those books where you miss the characters when you’re finished reading.
Fantastic submitted by EJZ on July 23, 2018, 8:35pm Amazing. Well-written but not overly stylized language, and the story at the heart of this book is one of the best coming-of-age stories I think I've read in a long time. Complex, but not overwrought, the book follows the same archetypes as most of Chabon's other books. I may not have loved it as much as I did had I read one of his others first, but as this was the first Chabon novel I read, all his others seem like pale imitations. Not perfect, but so much fun.
