"The Last Continent" continues the midadventures of the lovable loser wizard Rincewind, picking up just after the events of "Interesting Times.' Rincewind and his animate Luggage this time visit an Australia-like country. He learns that he is destined to bring the rain back to this drought-stricken land but, as usual, he tries to run away from his destiny and, as usual, he just ends up running toward it.
Meanwhile, the Wizards of Unseen University are trying to cure their librarian-turned-orangutan from turning into various inanimate objects every time he sneezes (the result of a spell that has become hostile towards wizards). The wizards then manage to get themselves locked on a dessert island that they entered via their dead colleagues' office window.
