an awsome book submitted by lillianchen on February 15, 2009, 6:30pm the book about orphins was totally awsome.
I'd love it if the series goes on and on forever.
even if it is a sad beginning and a sad end, i still love it!

the Baudelaires are the awesomest orphans on the world submitted by waffoo2 on June 24, 2011, 3:02am I've always loved these books and this was my favourite!!! (after the Austere Academy) I loved the Marvolous Marriage part!!! ^.^

The Bad Beginning submitted by llsiller on June 24, 2011, 9:01am In The Bad Beginning Clause, Violet, and Sunny are frosted to live with there evil Count Olaf. After there parents are killed, Count Olaf is trying to steal the treasures.
I love this series! I've read every book 7 times!

Not the target audience submitted by klmlewis on July 6, 2011, 11:30am (Written in 2005)

A quick, one day read for me, I just wanted to see what these books were all about, seeing as their popularity is growing, and I remember being intrigued when I first saw this in a bookstore awhile back. It certainly is a different sort of story, mildly reminiscent of Roald Dahl and his darker stories. Given that the author says flat out in the beginning of the book that this is not a happy story, I'm not sure I expected the ending that it had, but I guess it had to be like that. I found the author's interjections into the story amusing, such as when he encourages people to stop reading if they're sensitive to unpleasantness, or how he explains what words mean in the correct context. All in all, I think it would be a good book for younger children - it would help them improve their vocabulary without having to consult a dictionary or a parent, and it is an entertaining story with charming, youthful protagonists. As an adult, I don't feel particularly compelled to keep reading the series, but that's alright too - I'm not exactly the target audience here. I am mildly curious to see the movie though.

great book submitted by sunitas on August 2, 2011, 8:23pm great bok

sad but really good submitted by ekgolden on August 3, 2011, 7:36pm great series :)

Bad Beginning submitted by shalinigurl on July 2, 2012, 3:07pm This is the best book in the series. It's about how 3 kids' parents die in a mysterious fire and then they have to live with this mysterious uncle olaf but then he tries to trick violet into marrying him so he could inherit the Baudelaire fortune. Luckily he doesn't and they live happily ever after for a little while!

addicting submitted by 04foremanh on July 28, 2012, 9:21pm soooo good I finished in a night

Awesome submitted by ooseung on June 13, 2014, 8:00pm When I saw the book I thought it wasn't going to be that good but then I read it and it was awesome and full of action and mystery. This is just a really great series.

Awsome submitted by devipal on June 14, 2014, 2:36pm It is my favorite series but you have to read it in order

Heartbreaking Series! submitted by wind spirit on June 24, 2014, 7:21pm When I first saw the series on the library's selves I simply looked away. Then, everyone one of my friends and family started recommending the book and saying how sad and good it was. I thought, "I'll give it a try." Then I got hooked. The first book was as amazing and breathtaking as everyone said and more! I totally recommend the book, though you should have a box of tissues next to you because the book is so sad and good.

addicting story submitted by fab on July 27, 2014, 9:29am This book was soooo good I read it 3 or 4 times in third grade!

Not for parents submitted by KathyD on August 15, 2014, 9:31pm As a parent, I have been catching up on series my kids are reading. I can see why some kids would like this series and think it funny. However, there were a few incidents that reminded me too much of real-life horrific things that I wasn't able to enjoy it and won't be reading anymore.

Awesome Book submitted by sfweadock on August 16, 2014, 3:24pm This book is Amazing!!! I really enjoyed it

Good submitted by Fishing Rainbow on August 28, 2014, 2:05pm It was entertaining but might not be the right book for everyone.

Three orphan siblings must live with their evil relative count Olaf

The best worst book submitted by wind scattered on July 1, 2015, 1:10pm This was honestly the best book collection I have ever read. It's sad, funny but after you finish it you'll be crying like a baby.

Great Starter submitted by jmao on June 21, 2017, 8:22pm I think this book did a really good job of setting up the story line of the entire series.

Such a great series submitted by nschmidt22 on June 27, 2017, 12:48pm This series really puts you on an emotional roller coaster ride.

a real addictave story submitted by NC on July 5, 2017, 9:21am really good, but really sad.

Good submitted by readingqueen76 on July 21, 2017, 5:14pm This book is really good for children who like sad-ish stories, but not like so bad it give nightmears.

Amazing submitted by charbutcool on June 18, 2018, 3:23pm Definitely a read worth your time. It boarders the expectations of 'children's book', but the plot is definitely amazing, with unexpected twists and unfortunate character deaths. If you're up for a rollercoaster, take a jab at this series.

Dreary Dreary submitted by anacoluthon on July 19, 2018, 12:32pm A fantastically unfortunate series. One of my favorites growing up.

Great submitted by jw on August 11, 2018, 1:42pm I love this series. My go to book seriers.

Great series! submitted by Xris on August 28, 2018, 8:21pm Great series for elementary to middle school kids...especially if they're good with bad things happening to the main characters. I particularly like the way the book teaches vocabulary to the kids in a funny, entertaining way. This is the first book where the kids meet Count Olaf for the first time and have to outwit him.

Boring, TV show is great submitted by Satvika on July 24, 2019, 8:03pm Watch the TV show, THEN read the books. The awesomeness of the TV show will make you want to read the books to compare the two.

The start of the series submitted by cathyhuang on August 5, 2019, 4:38pm Great start to the series

The Bad Beginning, a good beginning to a great series submitted by Sinister_CottonCandy on August 10, 2019, 4:06pm This is a really good book, but I personally think that it is one of the best in the series. Great quick read.

The Bad Beginning submitted by emiliana on August 29, 2020, 6:20am I enjoyed reading this book and it drew me to read the rest of the series! Fun reading!

:D submitted by graytabby on August 1, 2021, 10:01pm 5 out of 5! SO FUN TO READ! Lemony Snicket has his own awesome, intriguing style of writing, doesn't he?

Book one submitted by amtorrey on July 20, 2022, 12:23am I read this as an adult after the Netflix show came out and loved it. Totally worth the read.
