"A China Bayles Mystery."
COMMUNITY REVIEWS
strong relationships developing submitted by camelsamba on July 4, 2011, 10:48pm I liked this book a lot. I had the opportunity to read a big chunk of it in one sitting and that might have influenced my reaction. The means-motive-opportunity aspect of the mystery is tricky to untangle, but not overly convoluted. The mood at the beginning is rather bleak, but it definitely improves as the story progresses. After finishing it, I poked around Susan Wittig Albert's blog a tiny bit, and she made a comment about how character development is important to her (not just plot and action). You definitely see China's character develop in this book! I liked how the China / McQuaid relationship resolved, and I liked the Ruby / China development. I wasn't sure I wanted to read more in the series, though - they're all at a good place and I didn't want it getting messed up!
