Seeing The Light

This was the first Velvet Underground/Lou Reed album I ever heard and it hit me like a ton of bricks. But in a good way. Raw rock, thoughtful lyrics, devastation, fun - it's all here and there is nothing else quite like it. Nico's unique, low voice is beautiful and unexpected on the songs she sings on, such as All Tomorrow's Parties (which is also the title of a great science fiction novel by trailblazer William Gibson). The Velvet Underground will tear a hole in your heart just to fill it.
