The Legend of Sleeping Bear submitted by SBNB on July 25, 2016, 4:06pm This is a story I was already somewhat familiar with. In this book, the sad story is beautifully told.

The title is awesome! it leaves some before- information to know what the story is about. submitted by ella lorenz on June 14, 2019, 5:24pm I think this book is a amazing story, and I would like for everybody to think this book is amazing, as I thought as I first read it.

Sleeping Bear Dunes submitted by i'm a blobfish on June 14, 2019, 5:49pm Such a great book! A story about a mama bear's love for her cubs. A story about how the sleeping bear dunes were formed. I recommend you to read this to your kids. It may be a little depressing, but overall, it's very beautiful.

Beautiful illustrations submitted by sarai koster-mockeridge on June 15, 2019, 7:42am This is a beautiful story and the illustrations are amazing, but it is quite sad. I'm not readit it to my 4yo because of the death of the cubs.

lovely submitted by smgop on June 15, 2019, 10:17am This book is beautifully illustrated!

amazing! submitted by devich on June 17, 2019, 2:38pm sad but it was a really good story!

Lovely but sad submitted by wellscai on June 17, 2019, 7:50pm The book is beautifully illustrated and a lovely story, but it's so sad! Might be too depressing for some kids. (It was definitely too sad for me!)

Not the best submitted by poptart887 on June 21, 2019, 10:18pm This book is well written but not the best book for young children. It's a little long and wordy. It is also sad, I believe my 3 year old was a little bothered by the fact the baby bears didn't make it to shore. I wish there was a version of this legend that is more toddler friendly.

A Very Sweet Story submitted by gem on June 22, 2019, 3:04pm The pictures are beautiful. The legend is portrayed well. There is some nice rhythm to the story and the words are at a good level for younger readers. This is a great read-aloud book. I read it first silently and the second time out loud. The pictures are big enough for a small group of children to see if they are in a group. I recommend it.

best book ever!!! submitted by G.Ham on July 1, 2019, 3:17pm i own this book and i read it every night

Good story submitted by c_zhang on July 5, 2019, 11:39pm The legend is sad and heartwarming, and the illustrations are gorgeous.

Beautiful illustrations submitted by rachelmcglash on July 6, 2019, 1:32pm Wonderful rendition of this legend. The legend itself can be a little heartbreaking, so caution if you have little one with a soft heart.

Sleeping bear submitted by avrogers1 on July 9, 2019, 5:40pm What a wonderful way to tell the legend of sleeping bear dunes. This is a wonderful story book! The illustrations are good.

Wonderful submitted by sbeegees on July 12, 2019, 3:53pm A great part of my childhood, heartwarming story.

sweet story submitted by skiger on July 27, 2019, 12:55pm This is a great story prior to visiting the dunes. We like reading all the stories about Michigan legends. I had also been looking for books about how to explain death and love to kids and I think this book is actually a good one for that. After reading we talked about how the mother and cubs loved each other even in death and even when someone dies their love never does.

wonderful submitted by kevinhe on July 28, 2019, 1:33pm one of the reason I love Michigan is because of the great lakes and it's sand dunes.

The Legend of Sleeping Bear submitted by lstorc on July 31, 2019, 7:57pm The Legend of Sleeping Bear is beautiful in spite of how incredibly sad the tale is.

Good, but kinda sad submitted by jessNU on August 5, 2019, 9:30pm This is a great story - but I am going to be real, it is SO SAD! So as other reviewers have said, it might not best the best for some kids. The Legend of Mackinac Island book is also good and a bit less sad.

The Legend of Sleeping Bear submitted by Varshini on August 31, 2019, 7:36pm I remember reading The Legend of Sleeping Bear many times when I was young. Great children's book!
