Classic- This Is Why We Love Garfield submitted by Meginator on June 12, 2021, 10:46am This collection showcases Garfield at his mischievous, lasagna-loving best, with a good mix of one-off and recurring gags and a healthy number of week-long themes that accomplish some meaningful sequential storytelling. Most of the strips focus on the contentious relationships and sarcastic pranking between Garfield, Jon, and Odie, but the Christmas series and the strips featuring Pookie show that the characters really do love each other in the end. One particularly odd weeklong series delves into existential horror (yes, really, in Garfield), making for a very interesting change of pace indeed. This collection is Garfield in his heyday, containing everything that makes the strip great and displaying honest love for, and understanding of, its characters.
