Most Amazing Musical Ever submitted by andreahubert on July 6, 2012, 7:45am This is by far the most amazing musical I've ever seen. The music is great, but just listening to this doesn't do it justice. Seeing this live is an indescribable person.

There is a strong element of African music, resulting in some of my favorite musical songs ever.

A Great Stage Adaptation submitted by Meginator on August 23, 2020, 6:38pm This theatrical adaptation of The Lion King is an absolute delight, though the plot is a bit elusive without additional context from the show or from the original animated film. The songs incorporate African musical traditions into US/UK pop music structures to interesting effect, evoking a unique and consistent aural vibe that defines the show. The performances themselves are often stunning, showcasing the cast’s many talents and adding musical cues that define this as a live, rather than filmed, production; the songs are easily recognizable, and the new material fits in nicely though the overall feeling is slightly different (as it probably should be, and in any case it definitely works). This edition comes packaged with a 30-minute documentary feature with some behind-the-scenes footage from the show’s London production; this is well worth watching as it shows the imagination and dedication that went into the stage adaptation, along with close-up views of some of the remarkable costumes, props, and puppets. I highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys the original film; it is a fantastic adaptation that adds another dimension to a familiar story.
