Dead at their studio best.... submitted by kencza on July 10, 2020, 8:05pm This seminal LP with the early lineup that included David Grisman(mandolin) and Robert Hunter(lyricist) created 2 phenomenal recordings in 1970. This one included Friend of the Devil, Ripple, Truckin', and Sugar Magnolia among other classic Dead songs. This one and "Workingman's Dead" were Americana, Folk/Rock masterpieces.
I was 19 yrs old when these were released and they made a HUGE impression on me and my taste in music. A broadening of musical horizons and a new appreciation for crossover relevance in music similar to the relationship between blues and rock close to a decade earlier.
