COMMUNITY REVIEWS

love lies bleeding submitted by camelsamba on July 4, 2011, 10:51pm I found myself liking this book more as it progressed. I did not mind the relationship turn that occurred (although many reviewers on the goodreads site did). Although the timeline is a little muddled, the whole story took place over the span of 4 or 5 days - not a lot of time for China to go into deep meditation. Can someone forgive so quickly? Perhaps when confronted with the situation that China finds herself in! After all those years of relying on her rational brain, it's good to see her discover her heart. It's just too bad that McQuaid didn't realize about a week sooner that she had already undergone a change of heart on The Question.

I read the first few books in this series many many years ago. When I started it, I hoped that the herbs would somehow feature in the mysteries - for example, that the alleged healing powers of the herb would be a clue, or that a poisonous one would be used in the crime, stuff like that. It doesn't happen that way. However, in this book, the herb-or-plant-related sayings at the beginning of each chapter are thematically related to the plot developments in the chapter. This is not one of my favorite series, and I can't even remember what caused me to return to it for this installment, but I definitely need to read Chile Death to find out how this resolves!
