Doo Wop and Early R&B and Soul At It's Finest
submitted by KidBlue on November 28, 2018, 2:59pm
The Moonglows recorded for the blues oriented Chess Label. Don't let that fool you, this isn't blues, but tight harmonies, soulful voices, and artful doo wop with a trace of relying on novelty. The Moonglows were one of the best vocal groups of the era.
By the way, they did the original version of Blue Velvet, and here it's beautiful and romantic and pretty, not like the sappy version Bobby Vinton did years later.
